Cats are Still Carnivores
It's no secret that cats are hunters by nature. Their bodies were designed to devour prey. While the eating habits of domesticated cats may have changed for the sake of consumer ease, their nutritional requirements have not. The feline species evolved for millions of years as the strictest of carnivores, unlike dogs, who come from the canine species of omnivores.
An omnivore is defined as an animal who will eat anything available, from plants to animals. Dog owners will not find this definition surprising. This sharply contrasts the definition of carnivore for the more finicky felines: an animal that eats the flesh of prey and insects.
